On this date Glenn Branca was born.

First appearance was at NMNY79 on June 16, 1970 as part of Jeffrey Lohn’s ensemble, performing the work, Humans Know How Many Toes They Have Whether They Are Looking at Them or Not, accompanied in that ensemble by Julius Eastman, Margaret Dewys, and Scott Johnson as well.

The program description, coming down to a single sentence: “one bent cadence for several electric instruments and percussion”. (more on this particular work on my June 16 post of the New Music New York 1979 festival).
