Arthur Blythe became part of the World Saxophone Quartet after Julius Hemphill left due to illness, and that ensemble recorded an album accompanying Senegalese Drummers, such as had been in 1989. Blythe did of course accompany Lawrence “Butch” Morris in a Conduction session in New York City during the 1989 festival. I recorded that session amidst the echoey acoustics of that the Whitney Philip Morris (no relation) Space:
