Robert Ashley was there for the very first night of the very first NMA festival, back then named New Music New York because no one thought it was more than a one-time gathering at the Kitchen. He presented his sixties work Wolfman and though I chose June 8 as the day to start these substacks about New Music America, I found so much information on this one work alone that it merited its own substack.
