Malcolm Goldstein 1936 Brooklyn, New York
Having met Malcolm Goldstein many times during the New Music America festivals, it delighted me to discover a new release upon my first month of being a DJ in 2018, when I had been away from both radio and new music for decades. It’s nice to come home when you realize there is a home to come home to.
He was at the very first NMA, New Music New York in 1979, so in my post for that day, I made sure to let people know that he was still releasing new materials! He performed actually two works that night, the first teaming up with Barbara Benary to perform Michael Byron’s Duet from 159 Pieces for String Instruments, then performing his own work Soundings which had been recorded in 1975.
