(dec 22) 1985 New Music America Los Angeles: guide to the anniversary date posts
Each day's substack linked; all substacks about single days of the festival are now permanently freed from the paywall thing. Just ignore the prompts!
gd - I’ve decided to streamline these guides to the individual festival days and am working on a more user-friendly creator-friendly index system, now that I’ve posted dailies for 11 of the 12 New Music America festivals. So, I’m ditching for now the previous indexes format which was “link+list of links+list of y2bs+list of screenshots”, and letting you explore them day by day via the links.
ALL DAILY SUBSTACKS ON FESTIVAL DATE ANNIVERSARIES ARE HERETOFORE GONNA BE FREEBIES so that if I don’t get around to the next stages (I have plans for a book, an oral history, more radio series, a traveling exhibit, a 50th anniversary reunion in NYC in 2029, a documentary film or miniseries, a historical and academic conference on an island retreat, but I’ve been financially-lacking and health-wanting sometimes), well someone else should do it and just get me a backstage pass!
The last NMA to be profiled via the anniversary dates will be Houston ‘86 which starts on April 5. Over the next year, I will be gradually shifting the focus of the substacks towards radio, my radio creations and my own music creations, as well as writings long hidden from the public through no effort of my own, finally unfolding in a great literary conceptual project, maybe even here on this substack thingy. I’ve only made $150 in sales so far but the 25,000+ views have been quite precious, for which I am fascinatingly grateful… love to the season however you choose to make it good.
