138. Rosenberg 3.2 Not Violin Music = "The fact that the violin (poorly played) is the…"
The 138th review (one page at a time) of the 3rd anthology of writings on Dr. Johannes Rosenberg, "Rosenberg 3.0 Not Violin Music", curated by Jon Rose who wrote this particular radio essay excerpt.
Written June 28, 2015 at the Victoria Highlands during my summer residency, which was much more comfortable than the surroundings in which I started this project (refer to the first twenty or so reviews); not perfect but allowing me to dive into this first artistic project in almost twenty years. It would take until July 2016 for me to finish it but along the way, all of the descriptive review texts (sans the original text as you have here) were posted at the official Facebook site of the Rosenberg Museum, of which this particular one was posted on July 19, 2015.
Thanks to the jonroseweb.com site, an archival recording of the entire radio essay as aired on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s service is available here: https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/ockhamsrazor/the-sound-of-a--10000000-violin/3236090 - keep in mind while reading that although you may be able to hear the whole thing, I was still operating on a one-random-page-at-a-time basis when writing the reviews. Oh, the needs of sticking to the artistic concept!
All 284 reviews were created in a shuffled order thanks to the technology of random number generation and this was the 138th “number” that came up (okay, I had to cheat by penciling in page numbers since 3.0 contains only a few of them).
and yup, many if not most of the pages would only be reviewed in isolation, thus of course leaving me in mid-sentence to be completed during the draw of the following pages… this is what I wrote in immediate descriptive response to the above:
…directed by D. W. Griffiths!
More on the Edison Tone Tests courtesy of a video (interestingly having appeared around the time of this review’s appearance) by Jack Stanley.
